Words Are So Powerful

Posted by: Annette M.

Believe it or not, words are so powerful. Negative words can affect people and lead them to think, feel, act, and talk negatively. The people can hurt themselves and other people. They can feel insecure and have a low self-esteem and don’t know how to love themselves for who they are. Also, they are not happy with what they have. They always want what they can’t have. They even have a hard time to believe that good things can happen and miss out on good opportunities. On the contrary, positive words can make you feel healthy and have faith because the Bible says, “Kind words are like honey – they cheer you up and make you feel strong” (Proverbs 16:24). For that reason, just be careful and watch what you say about yourself and other people. That way, you don’t hurt yourself and other people because the Bible says, “Sharp words cut like a sword, but words of wisdom heal” (Proverbs 12:18). Learn to be positive, become the right person, walk in love, and let God lead you to the right road that prevents you from destruction. It’s okay to make mistakes because we are not perfect. We can learn from those mistakes to be a better person and know what to do next time. When you make a mistake, try not to feel bad and blame yourself or call yourself “I’m stupid” and something negative like that. Instead, think of those mistakes as your lessons and believe that you can do better next time. But if you hurt someone, tell the person that you are sorry and ask for forgiveness. This will bring joy to you both. Stay away from negative people because if not, it will be a lot of trouble for you in life. Stay away from bad-tempered people because it’s possible that they will beat you up or kill you. “Don’t make friends with anyone who has a bad temper. You might turn out like them and get caught in a trap” (Proverbs 22:24-25). Stay away from bad friends because they will tell lies about you and other people will believe them. Also, stay away from jealous people. Don’t ask them for advice because they are not trustworthy and will try to do something to ruin or hurt you. These kinds of people can talk negative words to affect you and your life. Believe in your ability to pull yourself away from them and put yourself in a better situation. For example, your mom says negative words against you and beats you up all the time. What should you do to get yourself out of the bad situation? You go to school and talk to a counselor who works there. They are willing to help you to get out. This is how you put yourself in a better situation.

Hachi: A Dog’s Tale

“This film will touch your heart.” – Francine Brokaw, Los Angeles Family Magazine

This movie is a really sad, beautiful story. It’s based on a true story. Professor Parker Wilson finds a lost Akita puppy named Hachi at a train station. Then he decides to take the puppy home with him. As time passes by, they become really close and develop a great friendship. Hachi goes with Parker to the train station every morning and comes back to wait for Parker’s return from work every afternoon. As usual, they go home together from the train station. Hachi is really rare, loyal, and loving. After Parker passes away, it’s sad to see Hachi like that in the movie because Hachi misses Parker so much. Hachi’s love never fades away even after Parker dies.

I absolutely love this movie. It’s so inspiring.

Hachi (or Hachiko) was born on November 10, 1923 and died on March 8, 1935 at age 12.

In my opinion, this movie is a must-see for everyone of all ages! After Hachi dies, there is a bronze statue of him sitting in his waiting spot outside the Shibuya train station in Tokyo, Japan.

Here is the picture of that statue:

This faithful dog sits waiting for Parker to come back and wishes Parker a long life.

Lindsay Lohan Got Punched

Last night, the Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan got punched by a waitress at her 24th birthday party at the Voyeur club in LA. Lindsay wrote on her Twitter page, “A waitress just hit me – punched me for no reason”. She was hanging out with her friend named Doug Reinhardt, but the waitress was jealous because she has a history with him. When Lindsay got punched, he backed off and didn’t do anything. Why didn’t he protect her and ask her if she’s okay? That’s what friends are supposed to do. That’s just so horrible.
