Red Bull Energy Drink

Red Bull

Authorities said that the popular Red Bull energy drink can kill a woman who has a history of epilepsy and heart problems. Epilepsy means a disease of the brain that causes a person to have sudden blackouts or convulsions.

Chloe Leach

Last year on Sept. 30th, a 21-year-old British student named Chloe Leach went to a nightclub with her friends. There she drank around four Red Bull cans that contained caffeine. She also drank several vodkas that contained caffeine. At around 3am, she suddenly collapsed on a dance floor in the England city of Hull. She was taken to the hospital and later died.

In fact, she had a history of epilepsy and heart problems.

Red Bull contains 80 milligrams of caffeine in each can, compared to 40 milligrams in an average cup of coffee and to 35 milligrams in a can of cola.

A consultant neuro-pathologist named Dr. Ian Scott said that caffeine from Red Bull may have caused the level to go over the normal level, including a cardiac arrhythmia. An arrhythmia means a heart beats too fast.

Personally, I have never drank Red Bull before, but even if I don’t have epilepsy or heart problems, I will still not drink it. It’s for my own safety.

What about you? Have you ever drank Red Bull before? If so, why and how did you feel? Was it safe? Is there anything else you want to tell us about Red Bull? Leave a comment if you like.

Tell family and friends that Red Bull is possibly not safe. It’s for their own safety.

    Erg… That’s not good.

I drank Red Bull before. I drank it because I needed an energy boost to keep me awake all day after days’ lack of sleep. I got sick of drinking coffee all the time. I was surprised that Red Bull actually helped me stay awake for a while but the taste was awful. After that, I never drank again.

Does Red Bull offer sponsorship of bartenders? Me and most other staff at the bar where I work usually down 2 cans per shift each. We don’t sell it to customers, but it’s the best thing to keep us going, especially when busy.
Cans warn drinkers of caffeine and daily usage… If they drink too many then it’s their own fault. Next thing they’ll try to tell us is that smoking is bad for you.

i drank around 30 red bulls total last week. typically around 5 a day or so, except 8 one day. besides shaking like mad, and the occasional twitch of my body (and of course wanting to run everywhere i went) i was fine.
it’s not bad for you, unless your not in good shape and decide to drink more then you can handle. i myself have been addicted to caffeine since i was little, so i’m used to heavy doses. (i go through around 9 pepsi’s or more a day)

red bulls awesome, if your physically fit, you have nothing to worry about.

Your facts are wrong… Red bull has a minuscule amount of caffeine. A bar of dark chocolate has more caffeine than red bull. Coke has about 65mg a can and drip coffee has anywhere from 50 to 150 mg a cup. Red bull is just re branded soda, not dangerous, just horrendously over priced for no reason. This story sets no precedent for how dangerous red bull is; did anyone notice the caffeinated vodka in the article? I’m pretty sure this would cause more deaths than any soda. If she had weak liver function or the caffeine was actually some other drug, that would explain why she died. The author missed the point of this news story in that you shouldn’t blame a soda just because you drank a lot of it. Drinking a lot of anything will kill you and is not smart in the first place. Nobody made her drink the red bull, it was her decision and should be her responsibility. Would you sue a gun manufacturer if a gun they made was used to shoot you? NO! You would sue the person holding the smoking gun, and in this story the gun was in the hands of the victim.
