Stay Cool

Written by Annie Kwon
How was your Memorial Day? Did you eat tons of food? Did you travel to go to exciting places to celebrate Memorial Day? Did you honor the sacrifice of all the soldiers who fought for our freedom?
I traveled all day yesterday with my friends from Massachusetts back to New York. I had a wedding to attend to that weekend and it was beautiful. On the way, I noticed so many people were traveling and the decoration in the service areas. The service area was really full around noon and I wondered where they were actually going to. I thought, perhaps, New York City where many things happen around holidays. Around Albany to the west, I saw the heavy traffic leaving Albany heading south so it might confirmed my guess.
The summer is coming even though I feel that summer already came two weeks ago when the temperature almost reached 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Western New York. Stay cool by drinking lots of water and staying in the shade. It’s important that your body stay properly hydrated and cooled so that you don’t have to end up in hospital from heat stroke. If you have an air conditioner, you’re lucky. If you don’t, then use the fans to help cool you down and take a cool shower everyday. Don’t let the sun beaming through the windows so put the shades on during the day. Let your windows open wide and spend outdoors on the porch at night. Remember, put on the bug spray to keep out the nasty bug bites!
